Privacy policy
Effective September 25, 2026
This policy covers the YahTunez Radio Android app and the website at yahtunes.top (together, “YahTunez”, “we”), operated by Dahlia. It explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how to have it deleted.
The short version
- You can listen without an account. Listening alone collects nothing that identifies you.
- Favorite songs are saved only on your phone and never sent to us.
- An account is only needed for chat and song requests. It holds your email, display name, optional username and optional profile picture.
- No ads, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and we never sell or share your data for advertising.
- You can delete your data at any time from yahtunes.top/delete-account.
What we collect
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address, password (stored hashed), display name, username, profile picture | You create or edit an account | Sign-in, password reset, showing your name in chat |
| Chat messages, with your name and the time sent | You post in community chat | Showing the conversation to other listeners, moderation |
| Song requests (station, song, time, and an optional dedication with your display name) | A subscriber requests a song | Sending the request to the station, limiting request frequency, showing the dedication while the song plays |
| Subscription status, and for each Google Play purchase its purchase token, state (active, canceled, refunded…) and end date | You subscribe through Google Play, and whenever Google Play reports a change (renewal, cancellation, refund) | Unlocking subscriber features and keeping them in step with your Google Play subscription |
| IP address, device and app version in server logs | Any connection to our servers, including streaming | Delivering the stream, counting listeners, security and troubleshooting |
| On-air shoutout choice: the name and optional place you want read on air | A subscriber turns on the on-air shoutout | Reading it in the monthly supporter thank-you on the radio |
| App settings (such as last station and volume, favorites and your radio alarm) | You use the app | Stored only on your device; never sent to us |
The app does not access your location, contacts, camera, microphone, files or photos (other than a profile picture you choose to upload).
Your Torahly account
YahTunez accounts are Torahly accounts. The same sign-in works in the Torahly and Covella apps, run by the same team, and account data is stored on the shared account server at api.torahly.app. When you ask us to delete data, you choose whether to remove only your YahTunez data or your whole Torahly account.
Who else handles your data
- Our servers. The account server (PocketBase) and the radio server (AzuraCast) run on hosting we control. Data is sent over HTTPS.
- Other listeners. Anything you post in chat, and your display name and picture next to it, can be seen by anyone using the app, including listeners who are not signed in. The same goes for a dedication you add to a song request: it shows on every listener's player, with your display name, while that song plays.
- Radio listeners. If you turn on the on-air shoutout, the name and place you typed are read aloud in our monthly supporter thank-you, which plays on the radio for anyone listening. It’s off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off in the app at any time; it leaves the next month’s recording.
- Google Play. Subscriptions are paid through Google Play, which handles your payment details under Google’s privacy policy; we never see them. Google Play tells our server when your subscription is renewed, canceled or refunded, and we tell Google Play your YahTunez account id with each purchase so it can’t be used by another account.
- YouTube. Links to our YouTube channel open YouTube, which follows Google’s privacy policy.
- The law. We disclose data only if legally required.
How long we keep it
- Account data: until you delete it or ask us to.
- Chat messages: until you or a moderator delete them, or your account is deleted.
- Song request records, including dedications: deleted with your account.
- On-air shoutout choice: until you turn it off, or with your YahTunez data or your account. A recording that has already aired isn't changed.
- Google Play purchase records: deleted with your YahTunez data or your account. If the subscription is still being paid, Google Play’s next renewal notice records it again; cancel in the Play Store to stop it.
- Server logs: up to 30 days.
Deleting your data
Use the deletion page. You don’t need the app installed. Sign in, choose whether to delete only your YahTunez data or your whole account, and it’s deleted right away. If you can’t sign in, email us from the address on the account and we’ll delete it by hand within 30 days. You can also delete your own chat messages in the app at any time by long-pressing them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how it’s used. Email us to use any of these rights. You can correct your name and username yourself in the app’s profile screen.
Children
YahTunez is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Connections are encrypted with HTTPS, passwords are stored only as hashes, and the keys our servers use are never included in the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there is less to protect.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above and mention significant changes in the app’s update notes.
